Passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on 17th January 2026.

Aged 85 years

Now resting in eternal peace in the Heavenly Father’s home.

Beloved and devoted wife of Giovanni. Precious Mamma of Angela, Luisa and Francesca. Cherished Mother-in-law of Frank and Steve. Most adored Nonna of Christina, Sean, Alexander, Nathaniel, Matthew, Alessia, Luca, Massimo, Ava and Mia. Beloved Granddaughter to Maria. Loved Daughter of Maria and Aflaudizio Alves da Silva (late). Dear Sister of Estelita (late), Teresa (late), Francisca and José (late). Treasured Aunt and Great-Aunt to an extensive and loving family spanning Australia, Brazil and Italy.

A true matriarch, a woman of deep faith, highly esteemed in the Italian community, respected within the jewellery and gift industry, and across the wider Brisbane community, and a dear Friend to all who crossed her path.

A Celebration of Maria’s life will be held at Holy Cross Church, Chalk Street, Wooloowin, on Friday 30th January 2026 at 11.00am, followed by interment at Nudgee Cemetery – Famiglia Antonaglia Chapel.

Rosary will be recited from 10.30am.

Flowers are welcome; however, donations may be made to Operation Smile Australia, a charity close to Maria’s heart, which she proudly and lovingly supported as a major sponsor for 27 years.
