Adored wife of
Peter Bailey.
Second eldest of the Allen girls, leaving Cathryn, Margaret and Deborah devastated.
Aunt of Lyndal and Michael and great-aunt of Will and Fin. Sister-in-law of Keith and Wayne.
Judith died suddenly in London. We are so grateful to Stephanie Sanders for dropping everythingand flying in to provide help and support to Peter.
Judith was Distinguished Professor and Walter Professor of History at Indiana University’s Department of History; Senior Research Fellow, The Kinsey Institute; Associate Editor, Journal ofAmerican History. She was the first chair of women’s studies in Australia and wrote and taughtextensively on women, sex and gender and feminist historiography.
A memorial service will be held in Bloomington, Indiana where she lived for the past thirty years.
